Prácticos del Puerto y Ría de Ferrol, S.L.P., in carrying out its activity of providing the technical-nautical port service of pilotage, has implemented an Integrated Management System (IMS) for Quality, Environment and Occupational Health and Safety in accordance with UNE-EN ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, in order to integrate quality, environmental protection and health and safety at work into its general management.

We consider these systems appropriate to ensure the viability and organisational efficiency of the company: they are a management tool that takes into account a wide range of parameters, all of them aimed at guaranteeing the overall progress of the corporation through continuous improvement.

Main objectives

1. To ensure the quality of the services provided to our customers, with continuous improvement as the tool for progress towards greater efficiency and quality of service.
2. A firm, clear and explicit commitment to the protection and preservation of the environment, and to the prevention and minimisation of pollution, through continuous improvement of the environmental parameters of our processes wherever possible.
3. To manage occupational health and safety always complying with ISO 45001 and with everything required by the external prevention service.

Principles of the Integrated Management System

1. Compliance with quality, environmental and occupational health and safety regulations by management and by each and every employee, and commitment to the continuous improvement of the IMS and therefore of the service provided and all related processes.
2. Compliance with all legal requirements and any others affecting the corporation.
3. To provide a framework for setting quality, environmental and health and safety objectives, and their constant review through appropriate indicators.
4. To achieve and maintain the required quality levels in our services, including proper attention and advice to our customers to achieve their satisfaction.
5. To promote recycling, reuse and recovery of the waste generated, and awareness of the essential importance of protecting the environment.
6. To provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions to prevent work-related injury and ill health, eliminating hazards and reducing OH&S risks, appropriately to the purpose, size and context of the organisation.
7. To encourage consultation and participation of workers at all levels and functions, and of their representatives, in the development, planning, implementation, performance evaluation and improvement of the OH&S management system.
8. To promote training for all workers, regarded as an essential tool for carrying out their work in conditions of maximum safety, and to protect workers against any occupational risk with adequate means and personal protection and periodic health surveillance.
9. To foster a good working climate that facilitates the fulfilment of these commitments and workers' participation in OH&S management.

Our conviction

1. Quality is a key factor in the survival of the corporation, as well as in its efficiency, progress and continuous improvement.
2. Quality, respect for the environment and occupational health and safety are a responsibility to be assumed and shared by the whole organisation.
3. Quality, respect for the environment and occupational health and safety can always be improved.
4. Mistakes must be used to learn and improve.

This conviction demands, and we assume it, a significant effort to provide all staff with the knowledge and means to keep offering a quality service, sound environmental management and safe work. The whole organisation is responsible for complying with the principles set out in this policy, which is the framework for setting and periodically reviewing objectives at all levels. The Integrated System Manual, containing the general guidelines, is available to all workers, who carry out their daily activity in accordance with the procedures described in it.
